I usually confirm all lessons 1 week in advance, depending on my usual work schedule so flexibility is appreciated.

I adopt a varied technique, mainly formed of discussion that engage students rather than being talked at. I find these discussions which are supported with varied media such as pictures, (a few) slides, videos and diagrams combined with a relaxed environment and plenty of support to the students outside of the lessons are the most effective way to learn. It is very much dependant on the student, how close they are to exams and where their strengths and weaknesses are. As such, the plan or lessons is always discussed and personalised to each students and situation. I set homework weekly and go through it in detail each lesson, I believe this is where a lot of effective learning can take place.
